Fable and Mythos are new model introductions from Anthropic, with Mythos being an advanced, less-restrictive model for trusted organizations and Fable its public-facing counterpart with strict security guardrails. After Fable’s immediate release, industry concerns caused the US government to impose these restrictions, while similar concerns are being worked through about OpenAI’s new model, GPT 5.6. Business implications include that new model advancements create new risks alongside business ROI gains, that there is no consistent or well-structured process to evaluate new models for security hazards despite developments like the EU AI Act, and that export controls for a general-purpose model are extremely difficult to enforce in a multinational environment.
