At the 15th Singapore-Australia Joint Ministerial Committee Meeting in Adelaide on 27 July, ministers welcomed “strong early progress” in the initial phase of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) signed in October 2025, with AI innovation and cyber security cooperation as key discussion points. According to a joint communique, ministers “reflected on the commitment under the CSP 2.0 to collaborate in future frontier domains” and “welcomed progress made in 2026” on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, stating that “practical approaches on AI will realise the economic opportunities of emerging technologies and shape the development of international standards and governance frameworks.” The communique noted that bilateral cooperation will be strengthened via the upcoming Cyber and Digital Dialogue, held at the end of July in Australia. Ministers said cyber security cooperation was becoming “increasingly critical to national security, regional and international stability” and welcomed a renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cyber security cooperation signed earlier this year, which will enhance collaboration through information sharing, joint exercises, and regional capacity building at the ASEAN-Singapore Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence.
