Sona Comstar will invest up to ₹600 crore this fiscal year to scale its new robotics division and expand electric mobility operations, backed by a capital spending plan of ₹500-600 crore. The company is directing ₹100-150 crore of its total capital expenditure toward its newly formed Robotics and Physical AI vertical, which has already built an order book worth ₹800 crore, and is also investing an additional ₹20-30 crore to build its own autonomous mobile robot platform. Its total net order book stands at ₹24,000 crore, with electric vehicle programs accounting for ₹15,400 crore. In the first quarter of FY27, revenue from battery-electric vehicles surged by 107% compared to the previous year. Sona Comstar reported revenue reaching a record ₹1,310 crore, a 54% increase compared to the same period last year, with profit after tax rising by 45% to ₹181 crore and EBITDA improving by 49% to ₹303 crore. The company has entered into two joint ventures with Japan’s DENSO to develop powertrain systems for electric and hybrid vehicles, and holds approximately ₹1,500 crore in cash reserves, expecting an inflow of ₹800 crore following DENSO's investment.
