In a recent interview on 107.7 The Bone, Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz shared his stance on artificial intelligence in music, saying AI is "horrible for the creative process" but aids other areas such as "the medicine world." Kretz said he hates AI as an aid for songwriting, calling it "disgusting." He also said the movie industry is another creative field grappling with AI's impact, noting movies can now be made "within a couple of months with A.I." and that the Hollywood film actors guild, the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, is "really fighting how to control A.I." Kretz predicted audiences will see A.I. movies with characters and may fall in love with completely A.I. generated characters, which he said is when things will get weird because people won't know how to disassociate themselves from what A.I. can do. The article notes the music industry is not alone in facing discourse over AI, and that with AI evolving quickly, the best course is to become experts in extracting its value.
