Microsoft announced new capabilities for Dataverse as an agent data platform in July 2026. For business users, business data from Dynamics 365 or custom Power Platform apps, combined with Microsoft 365 data like emails, meetings, and documents, is now available in Microsoft 365 Copilot to deliver grounded, contextual answers. For makers, semantic models and business skills provide agents with business context and process guidance; Skill Learning discovers existing process knowledge and turns it into suggested skills, and agents connected to the Dataverse MCP server can automatically use those skills. Makers can also connect agents to third-party data sources with MCP Catalog and BYO MCP servers. For developers, the Dataverse Plugin for coding agents is an open-source plugin that lets AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot build and manage Dataverse solutions through natural language. Dataverse in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now available in public preview, with business data available across Copilot experiences on desktop, Teams, Outlook, and Word. Dataverse semantic models, which provide a semantic understanding of data, are also now in Public Preview.
