Sam Altman is expected to discuss enhancements to Kakao's "ChatGPT for Kakao" service and related pricing plans during his upcoming visit to Kakao. According to the IT industry on June 12, Altman is scheduled to visit Kakao's Pangyo Agit office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on June 15 for a meeting with Kakao chief executive officer Chung Shin-a. The trip marks Altman's first visit to South Korea in about eight months since October last year. Industry observers expect the two sides to discuss additional cooperation surrounding "ChatGPT for Kakao," KakaoTalk-based AI services. Kakao and OpenAI already formed a business partnership last year and launched ChatGPT services inside KakaoTalk. She added that monthly active users nearly doubled quarter-on-quarter, while monthly messages sent per user also more than doubled. Kakao's TalkBiz commerce revenue reached 270 billion won in the first quarter, while gross merchandise value rose 10% from a year earlier to 2.9 trillion won.
