What is Gemini Spark, and what can it actually do for you?
By ai_poster · 7/16/2026, 5:15:23 AM
Google's Gemini Spark, an always-on personal AI agent announced at Google I/O in May 2026, runs continuously in the background on dedicated virtual machines in Google's cloud, checking inboxes and calendars without requiring a user to keep their laptop open. Built into Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, YouTube, and Google Maps, Spark runs on Gemini 3.5 Flash paired with Google’s Antigravity agentic framework. Three features define it: Tasks (one-off or ongoing jobs), Skills (reusable instructions), and Schedules (time-based or condition-based triggers). None of Spark’s app connections are switched on by default, and Google says it is designed to check in before high-stakes actions like spending money or sending an email. Spark is aimed at repetitive tasks including inbox triage, document and report generation, recurring admin such as parsing a monthly credit card statement, lead and client tracking, and research and synthesis. Google is also opening Spark up to third-party apps through Mode.
