Microsoft and Mistral have expanded their strategic partnership through a multibillion-dollar agreement under which Microsoft will fund Mistral's GPU infrastructure growth in Europe. Microsoft will draw on Mistral's expanded, Europe-based GPU capacity to increase its own AI compute availability, supporting cloud and AI services while helping enterprises access frontier AI with greater control over their data and operations. France-based Mistral stated it is adding capacity built on thousands of Nvidia’s latest Vera Rubin GPUs. The deal expands Microsoft’s capacity footprint in Europe and supports commitments made under its European Digital Commitments announced in 2025. Microsoft president and vice chair Brad Smith stated Europe should have access to the world’s most capable AI without compromising control over their data, operations or digital future. Mistral co-founder and CEO Arthur Mensch noted the expanded partnership allows the company’s models to reach enterprises and public institutions at global scale. Nvidia’s VP Ian Buck stated deploying Vera Rubin systems at scale will give customers the computing foundation for next-generation AI across Europe and beyond. Mistral Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 are now available in Microsoft Foundry, while Mistral Medium 3.5 has also been added to Microsoft Copilot Studio. The companies are also aligning on a joint go-to-market plan including funding proof-of-concept projects, offering Azure credits, and running workshops aimed at driving enterprise AI adoption across Europe and globally.
