Google is bringing Ask Gemini and AI Overviews to the Google Drive app on Android and iOS, allowing users to access these features without switching to the web. AI Overviews appears at the top of Drive search results, providing a quick summary pulled from multiple files. Ask Gemini enables natural conversations about files and folders, including follow-up questions and searches across Drive, Gmail, Chat, Calendar, and the web when supported. Google states existing permissions and security policies still apply. The features are rolling out in English first, with support for 28 more languages arriving over the next several weeks. Access requires a Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription, or a qualifying Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, or Education plan; regular Google account users must wait for expanded availability.
