Anthropic is arranging credit lines worth billions of dollars, adding to a $2.5 billion, five-year revolving credit facility it received last year, The Information reported Wednesday (July 15), citing unnamed sources. Expanding capacity like this is a common move by companies planning an initial public offering (IPO), according to the report. Anthropic is planning an IPO that could take place as soon as September, although the firm hasn’t made a final decision. The company has set up meetings with public investors in the coming weeks. Anthropic filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June. Rival AI company OpenAI did too, although OpenAI is expected to launch its IPO in 2027. When Anthropic received its $2.5 billion credit facility in May 2025, it was reported that the company would use the funding to support its rapid expansion. Anthropic confidentially filed for an IPO on June 1. Days earlier, on May 28, Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round that valued the company at $965 billion post-money, including previously committed investments of $15 billion from hyperscalers, including $5 billion from Amazon.
