Nvidia has partnered with six major financial institutions to launch compute financing platforms aimed at raising over $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on X the company has the option to backstop up to $125 billion, or 25% of the potential deals. South Korea will launch a $3.5 billion semiconductor fund targeting promising chip materials, parts, equipment and fabless companies, with Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, suppliers and local governments expected to invest more than $576 billion in new chip manufacturing projects. A French press association has asked the country's competition watchdog to take action against Google's AI-generated article summaries, calling on the regulator to make a decision similar to one ordered against Meta to put forward a payment plan and resume talks with traditional media seeking fees for the use of their content by AI tools. China is emerging as a leading player in the race to improve weather prediction through AI, as meteorologists used a new generation of AI weather models alongside traditional forecasting systems while tracking Typhoon Dolphin's path, with researchers saying they can generate forecasts much faster than conventional systems while matching or surpassing them on some measures of accuracy.
