OpenAI announced plans to expand its European headquarters in Dublin, adding 250 jobs over the next two years to meet rising demand for its AI services. The company leased an 88,000 sq ft office at the Tropical Fruit Warehouse in Dublin’s docklands, where it will relocate its European headquarters later in 2026. OpenAI currently employs more than 100 people in the city, where it established its European headquarters in 2023. The new positions will span engineering, sales, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, legal, corporate secretarial and workplace teams. OpenAI also intends to expand its ‘OpenAI for Ireland’ programme, which supports young developers, start-ups and SMEs with AI skills and training. ChatGPT now has more than 1 million users in Ireland, with local businesses deploying it across software development, product creation and customer service. Associate general counsel and head of OpenAI Ireland Emma Redmond stated the expanded headquarters reflects “an important milestone in OpenAI’s long-term commitment to Ireland and Europe”.
