Chunghwa Telecom announced on November 4 that it will begin selling Google AI subscription plans, incorporating Gemini and related AI services into its mobile and broadband rate structures while rolling out an in-store experience strategy. At the launch event, General Manager Lin Rong-Ci set a first-phase target of 200,000 paid Google AI subscribers within one year, making Chunghwa Telecom a key distribution partner for Google's push into generative AI services in Taiwan. Consumers can add Google AI subscriptions when signing up for new service, renewing, activating a standalone mobile number or subscribing to broadband, and a separate annual plan is available for standalone purchase. Customers on the "Fantastic 5G" rate plans will receive a free first month or first year of Google AI Plus, while designated broadband plans offer a free six-month trial; standalone annual subscriptions for Google AI Plus (2TB) and Google AI Pro (5TB) are available at discounts starting at 20% off the regular price. Hu Xue-Hai, general manager of Chunghwa Telecom's Personal and Home Business Group, said the new "Google Pixel Experience Zone" will debut at the Taipei Dongmen store by year-end, with next year bringing further evaluation of locations in the six major municipalities and the Hsinchu area, with an initial plan for two to four new stores. Currently, 140 stores across Taiwan have Pixel experience areas, and more than 100 employees have completed Google AI-related training and certification.
