A British member of Parliament, Labour lawmaker Jess Asato, has amended her legal action in the High Court in London to seek a court order requiring Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, to permanently prevent its Grok chatbot from generating manipulated sexualized images of her. Asato first filed suit in June after alleging Grok had been used to generate fabricated sexualized images and videos following her public criticism of Musk and the AI platform. The lawsuit alleges misuse of private information and violations of UK data protection law, arguing that Grok’s underlying design and training enabled the creation of the disputed content, potentially making the AI developer legally accountable. Court filings seek an order requiring xAI to adopt “effective and permanent technical measures” preventing Grok from producing manipulated images of Asato. The case arrives amid broader regulatory attention; earlier this year, the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office opened a formal investigation into Grok’s handling of personal data, while media regulator Ofcom began examining the platform’s compliance with UK online safety requirements. The UK government has also moved to strengthen legal protections against AI-generated intimate imagery.
