Google is preparing to introduce one of the most significant changes to its search experience since the platform launched more than two decades ago, unveiling a redesigned search bar during its annual developer conference. The new interface is designed to accommodate longer and more complex queries, allowing users to type complete questions and requests instead of short keyword-based searches. Beyond text input, the redesigned experience will also include the ability to upload videos and documents directly into Search. At the centre of the new experience is Gemini 3.5 Flash, Google's latest AI model, which will power a chatbot-style interface that allows users to ask follow-up questions without starting a new search. Google is also introducing AI assistants capable of automating parts of the search process, such as monitoring specific topics or tasks and providing updates when new information becomes available. According to the company, people tend to search more frequently when using AI-powered search features.
