The Google Home Speaker, launched in June 2026, is the first smart speaker built entirely on Gemini, offering a conversational voice assistant that advances on Google Assistant but can lag and has faults. It features an attractive design with a light bar, amazing sound, and an affordable price, though many features are behind a subscription. Priced at £99.99 / $99.99 at Google Store and select retailers like Currys, Argos and John Lewis, it can also be bought in instalments for £33.33 with three monthly payments. The speaker comes in hazel or porcelain, with more colours announced for later in the year. A Google Home Premium subscription is recommended, offering a six-month free trial before a monthly cost of £8 / $10 or annual fee of £80 / $100 for the standard plan; the advanced plan is £16 / $20 a month or £160 / $200 a year. The package includes the speaker and a charging cable, with setup via the Google Home app, which has home, activity, and automations sections.
