Alexandr Wang says startups supercharged by AI can now pick 'Goliath …
By ai_poster · 7/31/2026, 2:58:55 AM
At a Y Combinator event, Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang said AI has been a game changer for startups, calling it "probably a once in a civilization opportunity" for dreamers to build something amazing, according to a video released on Wednesday. Wang, who now leads Meta's Superintelligence Labs after joining Meta last June as part of a $14.3 billion deal, said starting his AI training company in 2016 was "David versus Goliath," requiring cleverness and an angle into the market with fewer resources. He said that with the power of agents and AI, it is "much closer to Goliath versus Goliath," and that startups embracing AI agents in the "most ambitious ways" can easily beat incumbent companies. At the same event, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said, "never a better time to do a startup than right now," predicting a very steep period ahead. Famed tech investor Vinod Khosla predicted AI will lead to a small-business boom, saying on a May podcast that by 2035, "10 years from now," there will be "1/4 the number of corporate employees, maybe less," and "50 million micro entrepreneurs doing their thing, being their own boss."
