Meta has launched its flagship model, Muse Spark 1.1, which outperforms Google's Gemini model in multiple benchmark categories, including agent capabilities, programming, and multimodal tasks. This marks the first time Meta is charging enterprises for model usage, opening a new revenue stream for the company. Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Meta’s API pricing is approximately one-quarter of the official prices of comparable top-tier models offered by OpenAI and Anthropic. Zuckerberg stated that the biggest improvement in Muse Spark 1.1 lies in its Agent capabilities, which have achieved “industry-leading or nearly leading” performance in agent reasoning and tool-calling capabilities. He also noted significant improvements in coding capabilities, and Meta employees are already using it internally. Meta will also launch a new Meta Model API platform to charge developers, who can use the model for free up to a certain quota. Meta has already committed hundreds of billions of dollars to building the required infrastructure. Meta’s stock opened lower on Thursday but rebounded during the session, rising 0.19% as of the time of writing.
