OpenAI Group PBC launched a new “agentic” tool called ChatGPT Work, a mode within ChatGPT designed to perform actions autonomously across connected applications, files, web tools, desktops and recurring workflows, as it announced the global rollout of its most advanced model family so far in GPT-5.6. ChatGPT Work is powered by GPT-5.6, which incorporates the complete Codex experience to enable multistep execution of tasks with a coding element. It can decompose larger goals into smaller tasks over extended timeframes and will ask for human approval before carrying out “sensitive actions.” The tool includes plugins for Slack, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, Google Drive, Salesforce, Sharepoint, calendars, project tracking and other platforms. ChatGPT Work is initially available to Pro, Enterprise and Edu subscribers through web and mobile applications, with Pro and Business tier users gaining access in the “coming days.” The updated ChatGPT desktop app, integrating Chat, Codex and Work into a single service, is now globally available on Windows and Mac computers for all plans, including free users. OpenAI also debuted a new capability called Sites in public beta for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers, which transforms work materials into shareable, interactive websites or web apps.
