According to Imarc Group, India’s clinical nutrition market reached around $2.2 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach $4.4 billion by 2034. The Dr. Reddy's–Nestlé Health Science joint venture, formed in 2024, is betting on technology to improve patient outcomes and scale its operations. For Mansi Khanna, Chief Operating Officer of the joint venture, artificial intelligence will play a critical role, but she stated that "companies that will derive the greatest value from AI won't necessarily be the ones with the most sophisticated models and tools. They will be the ones that have learned to combine strong data foundations, scientific rigor, and teams capable of translating insights into better patient outcomes." Khanna sees opportunities for AI in productivity enhancement, demand sensing and quality monitoring, but noted that where decisions influence patient outcomes, human judgement remains indispensable. She highlighted a gap in patient adherence, stating, "We do not know if the person is going out and purchasing that... how many patients are actually doing the full course... versus just buying one pack and forgetting about it." Beyond technology, Khanna emphasized building capabilities internally, noting, "You can recruit expertise, but you will not recruit the right mindset to scale." The JV maintains rigorous quality processes across the value chain, with Khanna stating, "Quality is embedded in how we operate and make decisions every day."
