Perplexity AI Inc. must turn over relevant emails from two founders’ personal Gmail accounts to publishers of The Wall Street Journal and New York Post in their lawsuit accusing the AI company of copying articles. Given the evidence that Perplexity founders Johnny Ho and Denis Yarats used their personal emails for company business and their “apparent difficulty remembering this fact,” News Corp. units Dow Jones & Co. and NYP Holdings Inc. have “easily satisfied the standard” requiring Perplexity to search their accounts, Judge Katherine Polk Failla said in an order docketed Thursday. Ho and Yarats initially said they didn’t use their personal emails for company business.
