The concern stems from corporate leaders' fear that AI bills are spiraling out of control while their competitive advantage gets absorbed by model providers. In his June 14 essay titled "Frontiers Without Ecosystems Are Unstable," Nadella argued companies must cultivate "human capital" and "token capital," which refers to a company's own unique AI capability where workflows and domain knowledge are embedded into AI systems. He warned against a world where "every company in every industry cedes value to a handful of models that consume everything in sight," stating that if all value accrues to a few models, "society will not grant a social license to an AI future that hollows out entire industries." Palantir's nine-point manifesto, published on its official X account, declares: "Your AI sovereignty will determine your organization's future," warning that surrendering sovereignty means "ceding your" competitive position.
