Porsche has announced a new generation of its Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment and digital ecosystem, available on new models of the 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne. The system comprises new hardware, software and connectivity, and Porsche says it has up to five times the computing power of previous generations, enabling faster start-ups, shorter loading times and smoother app multitasking. Key upgrades include an AI-powered navigation system that understands natural language and helps with charge stops for electric cars, an integrated Apple Music app delivering Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos with compatible sound systems, a new 3D map display when navigating, and comprehensive over-the-air updates. The new system brings the design and interaction language of the Cayenne Electric's infotainment system to the 911, Taycan and Panamera, as well as combustion and hybrid models of Cayenne. Central to the user interface change is a 3D image of the car in the correct colour that can be rotated to access key functions such as active suspension, sports exhaust, adjustable aero and the Start/Stop system. The upgraded Navigation Plus system uses new 3D mapping and online map data with real-time traffic information, and in electric Porsches helps plan charge stops and takes battery preconditioning into account. The voice control system has also been upgraded with AI and a large language model to improve understanding of natural language, multi-step requests and follow-up questions.
