On July 6, Lee Sedol, a special appointment professor at Ulsan National Institute Of Science And Technology (UNIST), appeared on the ‘Money Lecture’ segment of the Chosun Money YouTube channel, emphasizing that to avoid being swept away in the AI era, one must break free from stereotypes and become a proactive leader. Recalling the 2016 AlphaGo match, he highlighted AlphaGo’s ’37th move’ and said, “The answer lies in AI lacking the stereotypes humans possess.” He stressed, “AI showed us the danger of the stereotypes we were trapped in.” He stated, “AI only replaces intermediate steps with overwhelming power in situations with clear rules,” and “Deciding the direction of what to create and concluding it is the unique domain of humans.” On job market changes, he noted that with 1,000 people’s work now achievable by 100 people with AI’s help, large-scale employment recovery will remain difficult. He advised, “This is no longer the era of passive employment, doing given tasks. Everyone must become a leader preparing to present direction and start ventures.”
