A study by Irena Mostowicz, affiliated with The Institute for a Global Sustainable Information Society in Vienna, critically examines ChatGPT's impact on everyday life, focusing on social interactions and intellectual engagement. The article argues that while the AI chatbot provides convenient and instant access to information, it may contribute to a decline in meaningful social contact and a growing reliance on algorithmic thinking, potentially undermining independent critical reasoning. Drawing on a small sample of qualitative interviews, secondary sources, and observational data, the research highlights how users increasingly replace genuine human dialogue with AI-mediated exchanges. The author contends that this shift may weaken social relationships and diminish critical thinking through the passive consumption of synthesized knowledge. The article includes interviews conducted by the author in October 2025 and June 2025.
