Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee and OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman met at OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters on the morning of July 25 to discuss cooperation in artificial intelligence and semiconductors. The two sides were believed to have discussed expanding cooperation in AI infrastructure areas such as HBM, DRAM and advanced foundry services, as well as an AI transformation plan across Samsung Electronics’ operations. Samsung Electronics and OpenAI have pursued a strategic partnership since October last year to expand production of advanced memory semiconductors and cooperate on building next-generation AI infrastructure. OpenAI did not disclose details of the discussion or specific agenda items.
