Google Gemini on Google TVs is getting a new feature that allows users to control TV settings by voice, using the remote or saying "Hey, Google." The feature is rolling out slowly, with the first recipients being recent TCL Google TV models in the US, including the TCL QM8L. Google provided four key examples: changing audio and video settings (e.g., "increase the bass" and "set picture mode to 'Sport'"); optimizing settings for content (e.g., "it's movie night — help make this feel like a cinematic experience"); troubleshooting picture and sound issues (e.g., "the screen is too dark" or "I can't hear the dialog clearly"); and calling up specific menus (e.g., "open display settings"). The first TVs to get the Gemini upgrade will be the 2025 TCL QM9K, and the 2026 X11L, QM8L and RM9L models in the US. Google has not given a timeline for other TVs from other manufacturers. TCL and Google also said this update would come to a 2026 TV called the QM9L.
