More than 12,000 SMEs obtain free ChatGPT Business licenses with BBVA
By ai_poster · 8/1/2026, 4:11:22 PM
BBVA and OpenAI’s strategic alliance is driving artificial intelligence adoption among small and medium-sized enterprises, with more than 12,000 companies already joining the ChatGPT Business program. The initiative, which began in February when BBVA became the first bank in Spain to promote AI adoption among SMEs, offers two ChatGPT Business licenses to both current and new clients, valid for one year, along with specialized training content. Due to the program’s success, BBVA has extended its promotion until December 31, 2026, and added new training materials and practical resources. The collaboration, described as unprecedented in the financial sector, aims to help companies experiment with the technology to automate tasks, improve efficiency, and focus on higher-value activities. The proposal includes an AI portal for SMEs to learn practical AI use, plus a specific solution that uses AI to identify potential buyers abroad and facilitate automated commercial contact, boosting internationalization. José Luis Serrano, head of SMEs at BBVA in Spain, stated that SMEs need a partner to incorporate AI into their daily operations in a practical and safe way, as the technology accelerates talent and competitiveness. These tools are part of the bank’s broader support for entrepreneurship, from business beginnings to SME consolidation, as highlighted in a meeting published in ARA on July 25th.
