According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new ‘Side Chat’ feature that allows users to access Meta AI directly from ongoing chat conversations without switching screens, enabling simultaneous chatting and querying via a side panel. WhatsApp stated this feature uses its Private Processing technology, ensuring interactions remain confidential; a temporary, private thread is created, messages are processed in a secure environment preventing Meta from viewing content, and are automatically deleted after a predetermined period. Additionally, Meta is testing voice and video calls within group chats on desktop browsers for Windows and Mac, eliminating separate app installations, with connection via QR code. WhatsApp is also reintroducing message animations for iOS users, with a fresh style and dedicated toggle, as reported by WABetaInfo. The latest iOS beta version 26.24.10.70, available via TestFlight, shows some users testing a new animation style, following a similar Android rollout where users can enable or disable animations in Settings > Chats > Animations.
