Trustpoint Xposure released its landmark AEO Research Report on June 30, 2026, revealing that 88% of the 200 professionals audited across legal, medical, financial, and technology sectors in New York were either completely absent from or inaccurately cited in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Of those audited, 176 (88%) failed to meet the basic threshold of accurate, consistent AI citation across at least two of the four major AI platforms, with 54% completely absent, 34% partially or inaccurately cited, and only 12% (24 professionals) cited correctly across multiple platforms. Every correctly cited professional shared the same five signals: a verified Google Knowledge Panel, at least three genuine editorial placements in AI-recognized publications, consistent entity signals across all platforms, schema markup on their primary website, and 75% had Wikipedia entity presence. The report found that of the 176 professionals absent or inaccurately cited, 68% had active PR programs, 74% had invested in SEO, and 81% ranked on page one of Google for relevant keywords, confirming that traditional digital marketing investment produced no meaningful correlation with AI citation authority.
