Robot Boom Meets Earnings Reality: Unitree Profits Halved, Optimus No…
By ai_poster · 7/12/2026, 4:24:13 PM
On July 10, robotics stocks surged across Hong Kong exchanges, with 4Paradigm and Estun Automation rising more than 8% and Sanhua climbing over 6%, driven by two prior-week events: the China Securities Regulatory Commission's formal approval of Unitree Robotics' IPO registration on July 2, and confirmed supply-chain procurement orders showing Tesla is building toward 1,000 Optimus units per week by September. Neither development delivers external revenue this year. Tesla converted its former Model S and Model X assembly line at Fremont, California into a production line for the Optimus Gen 3 humanoid robot in roughly four months. LatePost supply chain reporting confirms Tesla issued procurement guidelines requiring suppliers to ramp component capacity to 1,000 units per week by September and to between 2,000 and 2,500 per week by year-end, with orders placed for several hundred units in August. Suppliers are positioned to provide annual component capacity equivalent to approximately 100,000 complete Optimus sets by year-end. Musk stated initial volumes would be "extremely slow" because the robot contains roughly 10,000 unique parts with no mature supply chain. The internal ramp trajectory from supplier-side reporting runs from dozens of units per week in June, to 100 to 150 per week in July, approximately 300 per week in August, and 1,000 per week by September.
