A study from AI detection platform Pangram found that one in four long-form social media posts appear entirely AI-generated, with nearly half of those on LinkedIn and X involving AI in some form. Pangram released a Chrome extension at the end of April that, with a $20/month subscription, scans feeds on LinkedIn, Medium, Substack, X, and Reddit for AI-generated or assisted content. Analyzing over one million posts from users who opted in, Pangram defined longform content as any post over 250 words and found that 25 percent of such posts across all studied platforms were fully AI-generated. On LinkedIn, 41 percent of longform content was AI-generated, with 30 percent of posts between 50 and 250 words fully written by AI, 4.3 percent written with AI assistance, and 55.2 percent written by humans. On X, 25 percent of posts are fully AI-authored, an additional 23.2 percent are written with AI help, and 52.7 percent are attributed to humans. On Medium, roughly one in three posts was likely written by or with the aid of an AI.
