Agent Harness ECC Tops 228K Stars: Free Tool Turns Claude Code Into a…

At an Anthropic hackathon in fall 2025, Affaan Mustafa won the grand prize using a Claude Code configuration system refined over ten months, then released it for free. The project, Everything Claude Code (ECC), has crossed 228,000 GitHub stars and 35,000 forks. ECC is described as an "agent harness performance optimization system" that builds orchestration infrastructure around Claude Code, addressing its "blank slate problem" where the assistant begins each session from scratch with no predefined personas, lifecycle hooks, policy enforcement, or memory. Without structure, AI coding agents skip tests, modify linter files to suppress warnings, commit with `--no-verify`, and lose session context. ECC ships 67 specialized sub-agents, 278 skills covering more than 12 language ecosystems, and 94 slash commands, wired through a modular on-demand loading system to prevent context window overload.
