Samsung is preparing to roll out One UI 9 Watch, built on Google’s Wear OS 7, to older Galaxy smartwatch models after its debut alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in July. The official release is expected to begin in the coming weeks, and Samsung could launch a public beta program later this month, traditionally limited to select newer models in the United States and South Korea. Eligible models include Galaxy Watch 8 & Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Watch 6 & Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, and Galaxy Watch 5 & Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, covering devices up to four generations back. The update focuses on Galaxy AI integration, adding a Vitals Dashboard for sleep-related signals, a Heart Rate Health Score, Daily Cardio Load for exercise intensity and recovery, and a Fitness Index for performance reports. Usability improvements include hands-free access to Google’s Gemini assistant by lifting the wrist to the mouth, upgraded Wear OS widgets, and under-the-hood optimizations for faster app launch speeds and improved background workout tracking efficiency.
