In the medical field, he explained that automation has advanced in reading radiology scans, yet radiologist jobs are still increasing, allowing hospitals to take more patients due to a large patient waiting backlog. Regarding software development, Huang said developers are shifting from writing code to directing AI coding tools, arguing that more software workers may be needed because “the backlog of ideas and ambitions is too big.” He cited legal technology startup Harvey, where some expected the tool to reduce paralegal jobs, but demand for the role is rising rapidly, though the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts little or limited change from 2024 to 2034.
