Claude, Anthropic's AI, can automate inbox management through scheduled tasks or loops, according to Lamis Mukta, a member of technical staff at Anthropic. Mukta said Claude Loops are proving especially popular because "agents are kind of able to manage themselves and stay on goal for longer." For inbox management, Mukta recommends scheduled tasks, noting, "The scheduled tasks run in the cloud, whereas loops rely on your laptop running." Claude's documentation suggests cloud tasks for reliable work without your machine and desktop tasks for local file access. These features require a paid Claude plan. Setup involves signing into the Claude account controlling the inbox; the monitored email account need not match the Claude account email, but the browser and app must be signed into the same Claude account. Users can enable the official Gmail connector and optionally connect Google Calendar to turn invites into events. Outlook users can search for Claude for Outlook in Microsoft's marketplace. To schedule, type "/schedule" or add the schedule skill; the font color changes when enabled. Alternatively, Claude Code users can use "/loop" for device-dependent operation. Users should describe desired inbox management outcomes and specify frequency.
