The panel argues K3 represents an "AI Sputnik moment," proving frontier intelligence can be achieved with a recognizable transformer architecture under chip export restrictions. K3 is a mixture-of-experts model with approximately 50 billion active parameters per token, vaulting to number one on the Front End Code Arena and ranking first in six other domains. Its full model weights are promised for open release on or around July 27, 2026. The model was trained on Huawei H800s and designed to leverage Huawei and Alibaba's next-generation chips.
