Gemini 3.7 Flash groundwork spotted as 3.5 Pro waits
By ai_poster · 8/9/2026, 3:07:33 AM
Google is laying groundwork for Gemini 3.7 Flash, its next fast-shipping AI model, potentially before Gemini 3.5 Pro, the flagship promised since June, has launched. NokiaPowerUser reports code references, API endpoint pre-allocations and backend testing signals for 3.7 Flash, though Google has announced nothing and there is no release date. The Flash line is where Google ships fastest, with smaller iterative updates moving from testing to developer endpoints. Gemini 3.5 Flash arrived on 19 May, and 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber followed on 21 July. Flash models are cheaper per token, faster, and built for agentic workflows. Bloomberg reported in mid-July that Gemini 3.5 Pro is months behind schedule, with Google working on coding capabilities while rivals Anthropic and OpenAI ship. Google’s July announcement said: “Gemini 3.5 Pro is currently testing with partners and we plan to make it broadly available as soon as it’s ready. In parallel, our team is already focusing on building the next generation of models.” The same post confirmed a pre-training run for Gemini 4. Google skipped a public 3.5-class Pro when moving from Gemini 2.5 to the 3 family. Flash-class models run consumer Gemini features in the UAE, including the Gemini in GM cars and agentic Maps features that book hotels and order food.
