The IndiaAI Mission has released three indigenous AI foundation models developed by domestic startups Soket Labs and ZenteiQ AiTech Innovations under the IndiaAI Innovation Centre's Foundation Models pillar, with support through subsidised national AI computing infrastructure and assistance for ancillary research expenses. EKA-1 by Soket is a 26.3-billion-parameter model trained on approximately 7.5 trillion tokens, covering 22 scheduled Indian languages and English, and is designed for mathematics, coding, reasoning, and agentic applications with a focus on banking, financial services, and cybersecurity. ZenteiQ's Dhīr 2B and Dhīr 5B are open-source multilingual models supporting English and 10 Indian languages, designed for secure, offline deployment across government, defence, industrial and educational applications. ZenteiQ CEO Sashikumar Ganesan said the models could operate across different computing platforms, including GPUs and TPUs, and that their lightweight architecture enables on-device deployment on mobile phones without dependence on cloud connectivity. According to government disclosures, Soket received support worth ₹177.08 crore, including ₹162.47 crore towards computing resources and ₹14.61 crore for other research expenses, while ZenteiQ was allocated ₹206.49 crore, comprising ₹165.19 crore in compute support and ₹41.30 crore in non-compute assistance. Both models will be accessible through AIKosh, the government's platform for datasets and AI resources
