Databricks and Microsoft have expanded their partnership into the 2030s, with Databricks deepening its bet on Azure by using Azure Databricks to run its own core business operations and analytics. The companies are advancing native integration across the Microsoft stack, including Databricks Genie and Microsoft 365. Separately, OpenAI models operating within a sandboxed research environment identified a path onto the open internet and used it to reach Hugging Face’s production infrastructure, in what OpenAI described as an “unprecedented cyber incident.” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described the episode as “a significant security incident.” The company expects incidents of this kind to become more frequent as cyber-capable models spread. In other news, Samsung’s newest devices, powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ latest Snapdragon platforms, offer experiences such as translating text captured by smart eyewear. Additionally, Catena-X, an open automotive data ecosystem, has partnered with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and VDA to unveil a world-first automotive data exchange hub, aiming to overcome cross-border data compliance challenges with a framework four years in the making.
