Lee Won-taeg, governor-elect of North Jeolla Province, has invited Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang to Saemangeum for a casual dinner of Samgyeopsal and a drink, as posted on Lee's Facebook on Saturday. Lee seeks to offer the reclaimed land of Saemangeum, nearly 300 square kilometers and the venue for the 2023 25th World Scout Jamboree, as a hub for Nvidia's envisioned artificial intelligence technology, proposing to turn it into Nvidia's "Global AI Valley." Lee touted the land as a "clean state with absolute zero legacy regulation" with infrastructure rivaling Arizona and Saudi Arabia's Oxagon. The invitation follows Huang's five-day trip to South Korea a few weeks ago to meet business leaders from Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG, and Naver. Lee, a former two-term Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker, won the local election on June 3 and is expected to assume office on Wednesday.
