Google Tests 'Remy': How Soon Before Agents Own The Ad Chain?

Google is testing "Remy," a codename for an AI personal agent inside the Gemini app, to take actions on behalf of humans, according to internal documents seen by Business Insider and two people familiar with the situation. The AI assistant can keep track of events, proactively handle complex tasks, and learn the preferences of a human over time. Google employees have been testing the agent, which "runs in a staff-only version of Google's Gemini app and can integrate with a range of Google's other services." The timeline for a public launch remains unclear, but Google Marketing Live takes place later this month. This comes amid an ongoing debate about whether advertisers are ready for agentic agents to take complete control of advertising platforms. In April, Adobe announced several agentic ad tools at its Summit conference, including "CX Enterprise," which can execute entire campaigns based on one goal, and "CX Enterprise Coworker," which coordinates multiple agents. "Adobe Brand Intelligence" ensures AI-generated content remains on-brand. Greg Collison, Adobe head of product and design, told MediaPost that the complete vision requires trust advertisers are not ready to give, stating, "There must be quality control, and the industry is not yet ready for something like that." He added that automated reviews need to mature and that Adobe is working on a digital twin.
