YouGov’s first U.S. AI brand rankings for 2026 show OpenAI’s ChatGPT leading user preference, with 33.7% of U.S. adults who have used generative AI in the past 30 days saying it is the tool they like or prefer using most. Google’s Gemini ranks second at 18.2%, 15.5 percentage points behind ChatGPT, followed by Microsoft’s Copilot at 8.2%, Apple’s Siri at 7.7%, and Anthropic’s Claude at 6.1%. The rest of the top 10 includes Meta AI, Amazon’s Alexa, xAI’s Grok, Apple Intelligence, and Perplexity AI. Preference is measured by first asking respondents which AI tools they would consider using, then which one they like or prefer most. Between February and July 2026, Gemini recorded the largest gain, rising 6.8 points, while Copilot rose 3.0 points and Claude rose 0.8 points. ChatGPT was 5.9 points lower in July than in February, but its July Preference score remained higher than Gemini’s February and July scores. The rankings also examine how preference differs between knowledge-intensive workers and frontline or operational workers, and which brands lead on Accuracy and Personal Impact. YouGov began daily tracking of these AI brands in mid-January.
