1Password has launched 1Password for Claude, a tool that allows Anthropic's chatbot to complete browser tasks requiring logins and one-time passcodes without entering credentials into the AI model or storing them in its memory, addressing the finding that 68% of Americans wouldn't let AI act without their specific approval, according to YouGov research. The tool enables tasks like creating a revenue summary or flagging unusual activity from payment solutions such as Stripe, with 1Password handling credentials and one-time passcodes. To mitigate risks associated with agentic browsers, 1Password introduced Agentic Mode, a new feature in the 1Password browser extension that shuts down and locks the password manager when a compatible AI agent takes over, hiding the interface and allowing the agent to use only explicitly approved logins and passcodes. 1Password for Claude is now available on Mac across business, family, and individual plans, requiring 1Password for Mac (version 8.12.28 or later), the 1Password browser extension (version 8.12.28 or later), the Claude desktop app, and the Claude browser extension.
