Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) is looking at healthcare as one of the next big places for its AI technology. Kimberly Powell, Nvidia's vice president of healthcare, told the Financial Times that the industry has a huge opportunity to use AI as hospitals deal with worker shortages and rising demand. Nvidia sees AI helping with research, clinical tools, automation and even robots used in medical settings. The company recently launched Vera Rubin NVL4, a platform built for scientific supercomputers, and is reportedly working with Abridge on an AI tool that helps doctors write patient notes. Drug research could be another major area, as faster computing may help scientists test molecules and study diseases more quickly. For Nvidia, healthcare gives it another market beyond chips for AI data centers.
