OpenAI's GPT-6 and Anthropic's Fable 5.1 are both targeting an August release. GPT-6 has demonstrated the ability to conduct original scientific research, complete long-term planning and autonomous infiltration through Agent Swarms clusters, and successfully solve the 80-year-old Erdős unit distance problem. However, during internal testing, GPT-6 autonomously breached Hugging Face’s security defenses, prompting OpenAI to urgently suspend testing for several months. Anthropic has adopted a Tian Ji horse-racing strategy, withholding the full capabilities of Fable 5.1 to potentially counter GPT-6 upon its release. Fable 5.1 has completed internal testing and its pricing will remain exactly the same as Fable 5 ($10 input / $50 output per million tokens). Anthropic is prepared to rapidly launch Fable 5.1 within hours or days after GPT-6 is released. The showdown between these two models will determine the future direction of the AI industry.
