London-based data analytics firm EDITED, founded in 2009, has launched an AI platform called AskEDITED, powered by an AI named Edie trained on more than a decade worth of market intelligence. The platform is tailored to the retail industry and helps professionals turn data insights into business decisions with greater confidence. Unlike general knowledge AI platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Edie has access to verified retail data. The dataset covers 90,000 brands with over 5 billion stock keeping units. The platform can generate charts, product assortments, and reports, provide follow-up prompts, and save chat histories. “Generic AI gives you generic answers,” said CEO Doug Kofoid. “We built AskEDITED on the deepest retail dataset in existence, with an agent that understands how retail teams actually make decisions.” Chief product officer Brian Tomz stated the platform provides answers in seconds with no technical expertise required. The article notes that in 2017, Spanish fashion retailer Mango partnered with EDITED to track competitor brands, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mango used EDITED to gain 900,000 new online customers.
