The internet has proposed a hack against Meta AI smart glasses, which can discreetly film people without consent, raising safety concerns for women and vulnerable communities. If someone realizes they are being secretly recorded, the suggestion is to play or sing a Disney song out loud, a tactic called "copyright hacking." Since Disney songs are copyrighted, if clearly audible in a video, platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram will immediately pull the video down or mute the audio. The hack’s effectiveness has not yet been ascertained and remains only a suggestion. Social media reactions included comments such as, "It's crazy that corporate intellectual property really got better legal armor than basic personal safety," and "crazy how women have to go this far to protect themselves." Another person noted, "They’ll just cut the audio, if they even care. Creeps are probably recording for their 'private library'." Amid the controversy, Meta has reportedly introduced features allowing others to tell if the glasses are recording, with a LED lighting up when the camera is on. Despite these measures, the glasses are still seen as a threat to safety by most.
