Anthropic salary data reveals technical staff can make over $1 million
By ai_poster · 6/26/2026, 7:33:58 PM
Anthropic, the San Francisco-based AI company behind Claude, could go public as early as this fall and has accelerated hiring over the last year. Federal filings from its H-1B visa sponsorships reveal that two employees listed as Member of Technical Staff earn base salaries of $1.12 million and $1.38 million. Anthropic obtained certification for roughly 80 H-1B roles during the first two quarters of fiscal 2026. The filings do not include bonuses or equity compensation, which often accounts for a huge portion of total pay, especially given Anthropic's jump in valuation to $965 billion this May. The high salaries stem from a fierce battle for talent against deep-pocketed competitors like Meta, Google, and OpenAI. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Nvidia each ramped up their H-1B visa applications in the second quarter of fiscal 2026. SignalFire reported last year that Anthropic has retained workers at a higher rate than other labs and has recently poached researchers from Google. Anthropic declined to comment.
