Envision demonstrates integrated 800V DC power system at AI data cent…

Envision has completed the first commercial deployment of an integrated 800V direct-current power system using solid-state transformers and battery storage at a large-scale AI data centre, powering live computing workloads at its Galaxy AI data centre campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, China. The system delivers power from the medium-voltage grid input to the computing racks, with solid-state transformers converting the incoming 10kV AC supply directly to an 800V DC bus. Battery energy storage provides second-scale power support and minute-scale backup, while voltage-conversion equipment supplies the computing hardware. The company’s Dubhe Controller, supported by its Dubhe Energy Foundation Model, coordinates the transformers and batteries in real time, and millisecond-level control allows the system to absorb rapid fluctuations in GPU demand locally. Kevin Huang, senior vice-president of Envision Energy and president of Energy Storage and AIDC Power Systems, said the integrated 800V DC system is now powering live computing workloads and demonstrated power and computing coordination under operating conditions. The Galaxy campus began operating in August 2026, and Envision plans to expand it to 3GW, with capacity for up to one million AI accelerators and more than 80% of its electricity supplied through direct renewable-energy connections. Envision aims to deploy 5GW of green AI data centre capacity in desert regions worldwide by 2030 under its Mission Gobi programme.
